Why can't I apply for aid if my cat has already received the care they needed?
Cat's In Crisis has very limited funds, which are reserved for those cats who would not be able to receive the care they need without our intervention. We feel it's important that our organization remain a last resort for those in need of financial assistance.
Why does CIC require proof of income and need?
CIC is a charitable organization. We receive no government funding or grants. Our funds are generated from the generosity of private donors, and we have very little to work with. Therefore, we want to make certain we only accept applications from those who need the help the most.
Why must my cat be spayed or neutered to receive assistance?
CIC believes strongly that spaying and neutering your cat is simply in his/her best interest, health-wise. We also work closely with animal welfare organizations and feel it's crucial for us to do our part in promoting the control of feline overpopulation.
Why must my cat be an indoor only cat to receive assistance?
We believe that indoor cats live longer, healthier lives due to less exposure to illness, disease and accidents. Our financial funds are so limited, that we feel it's important to reserve them for cats who live in less risk-prone environments.
I have more than one cat that needs veterinary care I cannot afford. Can I submit applications for all of them?
No, unfortunately we can only accept one application for one cat.
I have applied for and received financial aid from CIC in the past 12 months. Why can't I apply again?
CIC is always working with very limited funds. We do not feel it's fair to the number of other cats needing help if you apply more than once a year.
If someone makes a donation for my cat or sponsors my cat, will I be able to get contact information so I can thank them?
No. We keep the identities of our donors confidential, but you are more than welcome to send your thank-yous to CIC and we will be happy to forward them for you.
